Hatred/Govt. Conspiracy:

Is our society being torn apart by those who capitalize on hatred?

Of all the things our govt. does to "guide" our way of living, pitting neighbor against neighbor is one of the most despicable crimes a govt. can commit. Yet, day after day we blindly follow, sometimes to our own end.

What's the problem?

The problem is: a black man in Cincinnati Ohio can not walk down the street without fearing an attack from a police officer; a couple can't go out for a drive on a Saturday night without worrying that the driver in the car next to them is intoxicated; a gentleman can not go out for a drink without fearing an altercation for having lit up a cigarette.

Who starts these disputes?
Who stands to benefit from these disputes?
What part does the media play?
Who pays the price?

Consider this, did you know that most brake pads (such as the ones on your car) are made of asbestos? Asbestos is a known cause of lung cancer. By standing on a busy street corner, you breath in more asbestos in 5 minutes, than you would working in an office building for 5 years that has been insulated with it. So why has the govt. made it mandatory that building owners have the substance removed, while letting the car manufacturers go unchecked?

Did you know that almost as many people die each year from asbestos related illnesses as those who die from second hand smoke related illnesses? (http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2004-07-22-asbestos_x.htm : http://www.lungusa.org/site/apps/s/content.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=34706&ct=67116) Yet, instead of going after the major corperations, we turn on each other.

Shoot! I can tell right now that this one is going to have to be a multi parter.

Imagine that... "Air Pollution in Southwest Ohio gets an 'F'".

Being a resident of Southwest Ohio, I've been toting about the air quality in this area for several years. Much to my dismay, I found out that no one really cares. People are more interested in keeping their jobs than they are about keeping their good health.

Growing up in an industrial part of Ohio, (close to an AK Steel factory) I never really thought twice about my asthma and allergies. I was young and maybe a bit stupid, and figured it was all a part of life. I was one of the unlucky few who just had to deal with these ailments.

That all changed when I moved west. I found that my allergies disappeared right about the time I drove across the Nevada State border, and didn't return until I got off the plane in Ohio when going on vacation. Again, I didn't take much notice at first, I attributed it to a cold I had obviously gotten due to the change in temperature and never once attributed to the fact that Ohio is one of the leading states in industry. Besides, our govt. is protecting us from undo air pollution, right?

The problem really caught my attention when I came back to Ohio for an extended stay. I was considering moving back permanently and this was a "warming up" period. During that time, I noticed that it was notably harder for me to breath. At the time, I attributed it to allergies and the weather. What I couldn't excuse, however, was the way the paint on my car began to flake off. That, could not be explained away by my allergies or the cooler temperatures.

Now, I hear many of you say "Ah Ha! she smokes". But let me tell you, I've smoked for several years while living in Vegas, and never had a single problem. So, is it just a matter of time catching up with me? I think not. Remember, I was here for a month and a half and had breathing problems only during that time. When I went back to Vegas, I was fine.

I'm sure there have been several studies done on the ratio of people dying of lung cancer due to smoking and people dying of lung cancer due to air pollution, but I've never read one. Could that be because the media would rather not publicize such information? Nonsmoking has caught on big in this country, and the media tends to stick with what's safe, rather than being cutting edge and unmasking a possible lie. Especially when that lie is what has fueled one of the biggest (if not the biggest) movement this country has ever seen. You don't believe me? Consider this, Sept 11 was less than a year ago. How many people still talk about it on a daily basis? Now, go to the mall and light up. I rest my case. Even drunk driving laws are lax when compared. But ah, let's not stray to far from the subject.

Air pollutants, where are they coming from? Well, mostly I would say that it comes from cars, factories, burning wood in your fireplace and etc.

This girl is no fool, she called the county offices to back up her story (even if they had no idea what I intended to do with the information).

Now, I agree (to an extinct) that cigarette smoking can cause cancer.

It is my theory that the govt. has found the perfect scapegoat... Smoking. By bombarding us with statistics and medical opinions, the govt. has found a way to divert our attention from the true culprit in this situation. Instead, they have us bickering amongst ourselves while they continue to let industrial pollution go unchecked.

The sad thing is, we are more than happy to be mislead, because to acknowledge the truth would mean that we would have to take a firmer stand against these factories that are polluting our air, or concede that we really don't care as much about or health as we lead on. It's much easier to complain to the manager of a restaurant about the person smoking at the table behind, than it is to complain to a Govt. official about the fumes a city bus is putting into the air. Both are a heck of a lot easier than trying to get someone to listen when it comes to complaining about the pollution factories are putting into the air. Trust me.

So why are we so afraid to stand up for our rights to clean air? Well, I would have to say it's because we are told just enough to scare the bejeebers out of us when it comes to our livelihood. If we complain, and if we push these companies hard enough, they will simply move. You've heard it a thousand times on the news about how this company or that company couldn't comply with the standards being set, so the moved to a new location... usually to another state with slacker laws.

Isn't it amazing how we delude ourselves into thinking the world is perfect around us, and that it must be a fallacy on our part alone.

For years, I've believed that the American govt. has found ways to pit its citizens against each other for the sole purpose of keeping the attention off of govt. agendas (i.e.: smoking dangers, militia activity, presidential elections, and so forth.) Consider this, if you weren't so busy preaching about the ills of cigarette smoke, you may actually find out that, in ratio, asbestos has killed almost as many people as second hand smoke.

--Secondhand smoke causes lung cancer and other health problems. The EPA estimates that secondhand smoke causes approximately 3,000 lung cancer deaths and 35,000 heart disease deaths in nonsmokers each year. --

--1,493 people died from asbestos in 2000, compared with 77 in 1968.--

And that's just one example.
But, why would the govt. do this?

Well, for starters, it's easier and cheaper for the govt. to have you fighting its battles than to actually try to take on an expensive battle of its own. We can tell each other to quit smoking and alienate those that don't. We can't go to the big corporations and tell them to stop putting asbestos in our brake pads without some help from the govt.

There is no doubt that second hand cigarette smoke may cause cancer; there is no doubt that asbestos exposure may cause cancer; why is there so much more information and debate about smoke and not about asbestos?

The govt. has a stake in smokers, and they know this is a war that will never completely end, unlike asbestos production. The revenue from cigarette sales tax. The reason they put addictive additives in cigarettes... Guarantees there will always be smokers. If they really wanted it to end, why not just regulate what's being put in the cigarettes? If it is so dangerous, shouldn't there be a law against it?

It's the old slight of hand trick. They keep your attention on one problem that they know won't be solved while they let a problem that can be solved go unnoticed, just because it's more convenient for them.

But that's just one example. The one I speak of now has much deeper implications.
Why, if they know that fluoride is bad for your health, do they not only continue to let it pollute our environment unregulated, but actually be added it to the water supply in some cases?

To find the answer, maybe we should take a closer look at exactly what fluoride does to your body.

I think the answer lies in what fluoride does to your body. http://www.fluoridealert.org/
